The Council of Chalcedon and its position in the history of Christology
Blahová, Andrea ; Ventura, Václav (advisor) ; Milko, Pavel (referee)
This diploma thesis will deal with one of the most important church councils in antiquity, which significantly influenced the further development of Christianity and whose conclusions became, among other things, the immediate cause of the First Great Schism of the church. Its starting point will be the existing contradictory situation in Christian theology after the Council of Ephesus, the course and results of which I discussed in detail in my bachelor's thesis entitled Christianity and the Church in the 5th century AD from the perspective of the Council of Ephesus. In this context, the work evaluates the causes and circumstances of the convening of the Council of Chalcedon, maps its course and analyzes the specific conclusions that this, in many ways groundbreaking, church council has reached. Due to the fact that Christological issues have become one of the central themes of this 4th Ecumenical Council, attention will also be paid to this branch of Christian theology and the position which the Council of Chalcedon occupies in its history.
The reflection of the Trinity of life of the Neocatechumenal Way
ZANOLLI, Mariano
The work deals with the comparison between the Holy Trinity and the Neocatechumenal Way. In the first part he deals with the Trinity, he tries to introduce the reader to the mystery of the Triune God, from the point of view of the Bible and then from the point of view of some characters who have dedicated their lives to the defence of this mystery. The second part deals with the Neocatechumenal Way, its birth, spread and what the Church thinks of this new reality. The third part deals with seeing where these two realities have elements in common and what reflection of the Trinity, the Neocatechumenal Way, carries with it and reflects it in the world.

Czech church duringthe reign of Premysl Otakar I.
Kudláček, Jaroslav ; Hrdlička, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Veverková, Kamila (referee)
This work deals with the person and period of Přemysl Otakar I and above all with the Bohemian church, which at this time was fighting for its independence. I attempt here to describe Přemysl's achievement of a great success in the form of the Golden Bull of Sicily. I also address the ecclesiastical struggle that Bishop Ondřej conducted with the king. This whole struggle between church and state culminated in great privileges issued to the church by Přemysl Otakar I. In this work I describe both these successes, ecclesiastical and statebuilding. I approach this struggle from the position of the church and from the position of the state and in conclusion I summarise the impact the result of this struggle had on the Bohemian church. Šumníková, Kateřina ; Kunštát, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kochnowski, Roman (referee)
Kateřina Šumníková Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Social Sciences, Institute of International Relations, department of German and Austrian studies, field of German and Central European studies Diploma thesis: The image of the pontificate of John Paul II. in Federal Republic of Germany ABSTRACT Pope John Paul II. had indisputable importance not only for the church in Central and Eastern Europe, but also for social change in Eastern Europe. In the Federal Republic of Germany, John Paul II has become a personality who aroused not only polite interest, but also an increasing controversy over the time. The diploma thesis conducts a survey of the exact causes of the distance to his personality as well as the factors of not adoring perception in the Federal Republic of Germany. Part of the work deals with the quantitative media analysis, which provides a media image of John Paul II. in selected periodicals in connection to the announcement of Pope's canonization (July 5, 2014) and subsequent canonization (April 27, 2014).
Message and media reflection of visits of two Popes in Czechoslovak Federal Republic and Czech Republic in the light of their public speeches: John Pavel II. - 1990,1995,1997 a Benedikt XVI - 2009
Krupa, Adam ; Lovaš, Karol (advisor) ; Knapík, Jiří (referee)
The Pope's visits are important social, political, and media events. The pope always comes to the host country with a predetermined agenda, not unlike the one for state visits by politicians. The Pope's speeches are at the center of the public part of the agenda. This thesis aims to analyze the messages that the two popes presented to the nation and the world during their visits to Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic. And also how the media captured, interpreted, and brought these messages to their audiences. The results show that the popes emphasized several topics, from spiritual renewal, return to tradition, reorganization of the Church to the commemoration of Christianity as the basis of European culture. However, the media largely ignored these frames, because even the use of frames does not guarantee preferred decoding. The analysis of selected newspapers showed that the papal messages were spread the best in Lidové noviny, a paper focused on strong opinion texts. This is all the more surprising because Lidové noviny was built on the traditional anti-Catholic tradition. The narrowly focused Catholic weekly did not spread the message to such an extent. In the case of the mainstream Mladá fronta Dnes, the form of the visit prevailed over the content, and the main role was played by the...
Taking over the papal office - Comparative content analysis
Fišer, Tomáš ; Koudelková, Petra (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The death of Pope John Paul II. ended a nearly thirty-year long period in the church, during which even in the Czech atheistic community the Pope was a topic that the mass media was intensively devoted to. Both of his successors came to the office, while the media had an extraordinary interest, which was further supported by the various specific conditions. Pope Benedict XVI. and his successor, Pope Francis, are two different personalities, with a different way of speaking, different life experiences and different relationships to the media. All these factors were reflected by the media, which participated in the creation of their media image - the way they were presented to the public. This diploma thesis compares the differences in the creation of media images of both Popes in the first year of their appointment. Two types of media were chosen for comparison, which represent the most typical newspapers in the Czech Republic. Mladá fronta DNES represents a serious approach. On the other hand the second one, BLESK, represents the tabloid way of reporting. The quantitative content analysis method is used for comparison, thanks to which the published articles about both Popes can be analyzed and get some representative conclusions about these Popes.
